5 Best Commercial Cold-Press Juicer Machines (2020)

Updated: a day ago

Check out some of the best wide feed cold-press juicers for light commercial use

Cold-pressed juicers are a relatively new technology and there are very commercial models on the market.

And when you start getting into commercial-scale cold-pressed juicers for high volume bottling it gets very expensive.

However, there are a lot of high-end cold-pressed juicers that fall between household and commercial use which are suitable for light commercial operations like a small juice bar or cafe/restaurant.

And I should know, I've run a mobile juice bar for over four years now and these are the types of juicers I have always used.

So to help decide I've put together a list of 5 of the best cold-pressed juicers suitable for light commercial use.

What is Cold-pressed?

You may or may not know what cold-pressed actually means but its worth clarifying just in case before you dive in and make a purchase.

Cold press juicers, also known as slow or masticating juicers create minimal heat when extracting the juice.

This is due to the low RPM (rotations per minute) and slow crushing action of the auger which essentially squeezes the juice out of the fruit and vegetable as opposed to the fast-spinning blades of centrifugal juicers.

Pro's and cons of cold-pressed juicers

There are a few benefits and drawbacks to using cold press juicers.

Pros:

  • Extracts more juice than centrifugal juicers

  • Juice lasts longer in the fridge (up to 3-5 days)

  • Good at extracting juice from leafy greens (spinach, kale)

  • Can be used to make nut milk

  • Low RPM (uses less power)

Cons:

  • Takes longer to extract the juice (slow-juicer)

  • Tend to be more expensive than centrifugal

  • Can be hard to clean

  • Lack of affordable commercial cold press juicers

Wide feed cold-press juicers

When using a cold-pressed juicer in a cafe or juice bar you will likely be busy and therefore need to be efficient.

So to save time chopping fruit and vegetables go for a commercial cold-pressed juicer with a wide feed chute.

This way you can juice whole fruits such as apples, without the need for prepping, thus speeding up serving times.

Sammic Slow Juicer LL-60

Brand: Sammic

Continuous use: 30 mins.

RPM: 60

Product features:

  • Wide feed chute

  • Brushed stainless steel

  • 1-year warranty

  • Powerful motor

Pros:

  • Slim & sleek design

  • Wide feed chute

  • Carry handle

Cons:

  • Brand not as established

The Sammic slow juicer has a sleek and slim design which makes it easy if space is a bit tight.

It is made with premium materials such as stainless steel which makes it easy to clean and looks good in a professional catering environment like a juice bar or cafe.

Its also the at the lower end of the price scale and is sold as a "commercial" cold press juicer machine on both Nisbets and Sammic's website.

The only real drawback with this juicer is that it is not from an established brand and online reviews are lacking.

BioChef Atlas Whole Slow Juicer

Brand: Biochef

Continuous use: 30 mins

RPM: 40

Product features:

  • Self-feeding flap

  • Wide feed chute

  • Lifetime Guarantee on motor and 5 years on parts

  • Complete BioChef Recipe Book

Pros:

  • low RPM

  • Self-feeding design

Cons:

  • Hard to clean

  • The flap can sometimes hinder speed

Not only does the Biochef cold press juicer have a wide feed chute for whole fruit and vegetables, but it also has a self-feeding flap.

This means you can feed produce into the mouth of the juicer machine without the need for a plunger to push the fruit and vegetables down.

It also comes with a generous lifetime guarantee on the motor and 5 years on parts.

However, whilst the self-feeding flap can be useful I find it can sometimes get in the way when using a plunger to push down the produce to speed up the juicing process.

The JR slow juicer is similar in design and size as the Sammic LL-60 making it a good juicer machine for small spaces.

And like all of the other juicers on the list, it comes with a wide feed chute and a handy introductory recipe book for inspiration for your juice bar or cafe menu.

The main drawback with this model is unlike the Sammic it does have a carry handle feature and it is also around a third more expensive.

Kuvings B8200 Whole Slow Juicer

Continuous use: 30 mins

RPM: 60

Product features:

  • Wide feed chute

Cons:

  • Flip gate can affect juicing speed

Kuvings is one of the best cold-press juicer brands on the market and has won awards for its products (winner of the ‘Red Dot Design Award 2017 for design and innovation).

The kuvings B8200 whole slow juicer has a flip gate lid for safety (stops objects or someone putting a hand into the juicer).

It is also made from eco-friendly materials called "Tritan" which is free of environmental hormones.

However, again just like the Biochef having a flip gate as a feature can sometimes affect juicing speed.

Kuvings Juicer Evo 820 Gunmetal

Brand: Kuvings

Continuous use: 30 mins

RPM: 60

Product features:

  • Wide feed chute

  • Flip gate lid

  • Tritan materials (eco-friendly)

Pros:

  • Award-winning model

  • Made with eco-friendly materials

Cons:

  • Expensive

  • Flip gate can reduce juicing speed

  • No additional features for the price increase

Last but not least is the Kuvings Juicer Evo 820 and is at the top end of the price range for cold-press juicers for light commercial use.

This model was voted the best juicer for 2020 by BBC Good Food and Just like the other Kuvings model has a flip gate for safety, a wide feed chute and is made using the same eco-friendly materials.

However, the main negative for this juicer, from what I can see is that there are no additional features between the less expensive Kuvings B8200 and this model to justify the increase in price.

Key takeaway

You really don't need to spend a fortune on one of the very few commercial cold-press juicer models that are out there.

All of the juicers on the list are suitable for light commercial use in a juice bar, cafe or anywhere you can serve food and drink to the public.

The main thing to look out for when buying a cold press juicer for this type of use is a wide feed chute feature.

This will save you a lot of time with preparation chopping fruits and vegetables, thus speeding up serving time.

If you are on a tight budget (£200-250) I recommend the Sammic or Bichef and if you have a bit more to spend (£350-500) go for the award-winning Kuvings.

Whichever one you choose they should all do the job.
